KOCHI: The winner of the 25-crore first prize of the Thiruvonam Bumper is likely to be a Nettoor native. According to lottery agent Latheesh, the lucky owner of the ticket TH 577825 has forwarded the image of the ticket to his friend through WhatsApp.
Latheesh bought 800 tickets but is unable to figure out the man who purchased the winning ticket. 75 lakh people bought the Thiruvonam Bumper lottery (Rs 500 each) this time. This means crores landed in the government's coffers. The turnover of Thiruvonam Bumper is approximately 375 crores. So, do you know how many rupees the lucky winner takes home?
The winner will have to give 10 per cent commission to the agent, that is 2.5 crores. Then the price tax is 30 per cent, that is, Rs 6.75 crores. In addition to this, the surcharge on the tax amount is 37 per cent; that is about Rs 2.49 crores. Health and education cess is four per cent, 36.9 lakhs. The total tax on the amount received in the account is Rs 2.85 crores. So, after all the taxes, the lucky winner will get 12,88,25,000 rupees (12.8 crores).
Meanwhile, the third prize of Rs 50 lakhs in the Onam Bumper went to Kudumbashree members. The ticket number TH 668650, bought by members of Kottayam Payyanithottam Surya Kudumbashree, won the big prize. Soumya Sujeev, Usha Mohanan, Sally Sabu, and Usha bought from Manoj, a native of Poonjar, by pooling Rs 100 each. The winning ticket was handed over to the Kerala Gramin Bank Poonjar branch.
