Sabarimala gold sold by Unnikrishnan Potty found; Stowed as gold bars in jewelry shop in Bellary

BELLARY: The special investigation team has found the gold smuggled from Sabarimala in Bellary. The gold was recovered from Govardhan's jewellery shop last evening. The gold was recovered by the team led by SP S Sasidharan in the presence of Govardhan and Unnikrishnan Potty, who sold the gold.


Gold bars weighing above 500 grams were recovered. Govardhan had admitted yesterday that Unnikrishnan Potty had sold the gold to him. Gold coins were recovered from Unnikrishnan Potty's house. The gold coins were taken into custody from his house in Pulimath. Around Rs. 2 lakh was also recovered.

Meantime, collecting evidence of Unnikrishnan Potty, who is in the custody of the special team in the Sabarimala gold theft, will continue today. Unnikrishnan Potty's custody tenure is till October 30. Unnikrishnan Potty's statement is that he handed over the gold he received from Smart Creations to his friend Govardhan. Statements of other employees of the Devaswom Board will also be taken today.
