THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala gave a statement related to the Sabarimala gold theft case in front of the special investigation team on Sunday. Chennithala had earlier accused that the gold plates smuggled from Sabarimala were sold as antiques in a deal worth Rs 500 crores. Chennithala said he was provided with the news by someone who had all the know-how about the deal.

Ramesh Chennithala accused the hands of an international antiques mafia behind the gold theft in Sabarimala. The statement is being recorded at the crime branch headquarters at Eanchakkal. Although Ramesh Chennithala gave his assent to give the statement earlier, it was postponed to Sunday due to the inconvenience of the investigating team.
