THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Salaries in eight institutions under the Chief Minister's Department of Science and Technology have been suspended as the finance department didn't sanction it on time. The reason is that the file for allocating money from the non-plan allocation is stuck in the finance department.

Fund for salaries in Forest Research Institute in Thrissur, Botanical Garden in Palode, Centre for Water Resources Development and Management, Kerala School of Mathematics, Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Basic Sciences, Malabar Botanical Garden and Institute for Plant Sciences, Institute for Climate Change Studies and NATPAC is pending.

These institutes will provide the utilization certificate to the science and technology department every month. The file will then be verified by the administrative section of the Secretariat and forwarded to the finance department. As usual, the process progressed as usual but got stuck after it reached the finance department. The file is under consideration of the finance expenditure secretary.
