KOCHI: The nominations filed by producer Sandra Thomas in the Producers Association elections were rejected on Monday. The nominations filed for the positions of president and treasurer were rejected. The returning officer rejected the nomination, citing the rules that a member can contest for the main positions in the association only if he has produced at least three films.
Sandra Thomas opposed the returning officer's findings that said she had produced only two films (Little Hearts and Nalla Nilavulla Rathri). Sandra argued that she was the managing partner of another company, which had produced many movies, censored under her name.
Sandra Thomas mentioned Friday Film House, the company she earlier partnered with Vijay Babu. The bylaws state that a permanent member is eligible to contest if he/she has three censor certificates. Sandra argued that she has nine censor certificates under her name. However, the returning officer was not convinced and said that Sandra could contest for the executive committee.
At the same time, an altercation took place between Sandra Thomas and Suresh Kumar while the nomination papers were being scrutinised. Sandra called the producers' association a den of hooligans and confirmed her decision to approach the court.
