NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing of the petitions alleging malpractices and re-test of NEET UG to July 18. This is after Advocate Mathew J Nedumbara, appearing for the petitioners, sought time to examine the counter affidavits filed by the central government and the National Testing Agency.

NTA, in an affidavit, said that the question paper leak had not affected the sanctity of the examination and the situation was assessed immediately after learning about the question paper leak in Patna in Bihar and Godhra in Gujarat. NTA told the court that the performance of the examinees in those centres was checked and it was found that the leak did not affect the sanctity of the exam. The agency also told the court that no one has unusual marks.

A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Monday said that if the leakages and if students that benefitted from it are not found, it will decide on a re-examination. The court raised many questions such as the places where the question paper was leaked and the action taken
