School sports meet: Palakkad storms ahead with golden start

KUNNAMKULAM: With two state records in the discus throw and 400m, the first day of the state school sports meet was eventful nevertheless. In a ruthless show of might, Palakkad district reaped seven gold, and four silver medals to add up a total of 50 points, comfortably settling their place at the top spot.

Malappuram is in the second spot with 37 points including four gold, five silver and two bronze. Malappuram is leading in the school category with 18 points. IDEAL EHSS is at the pole position followed by Kothamangalam Mar Basil school.

K C Sarvan from Kuttamath school in Kasaragod won the first prize in discus throw while P Abhiram of Palakkad Mathur CFDVHSC earned the top spot in boys 400m heats.
