PALAKKAD: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) held a victory rally in Palakkad to celebrate UDF candidate Rahul Mamkootathil’s record win in Palakkad by-polls. The rally passed through the road connecting Victoria College.

CPM had earlier alleged the unholy nexus of SDPI with UDF in Palakkad while congress leaders shied away from answering whenever the media brought up the question. AA Rahim MP had alleged that the Congress is campaigning for the election by putting SDPI at the forefront.

“This a dangerous game at play. Congress in Palakkad is backed by three sections: Muslim League, SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami. The situation has turned such bad that SDPI is now publically announcing its support for Congress. They have turned into official allies of Congress." said Rahim.

Meanwhile, SDPI revealed on Friday that the party held discussions with the UDF during the Lok Sabha elections. SDPI also stated that it was not disclosed due to political respectability.

“We have got the result in Palakkad. Other parties should follow suit. Sivankutty won Nemom because SDPI backed off from the fight. In Manjeswaram, the league won by a slender margin only due to the sacrifice made by SDPI.” Said SDPI leadership.
