THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The anticipatory bail plea filed by Rahul Mamkootathil in the Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court was adjourned to Monday for a detailed hearing. The plea was considered at 2.45 pm today. The High Court had earlier stayed Rahul's arrest in the first harassment case filed, till the 15th of this month. The anticipatory bail plea was filed in the second case immediately after the verdict came from the High Court.
The petition was filed along with a copy of the judgment received from the High Court in the first case.
The second case was registered while the preliminary hearing was going on in the first case. The complaint received by KPCC President Sunny Joseph through an email was forwarded to the police. Although the case was registered, the complainant's statement had not been recorded yet. Therefore, no further investigation was carried out. However, there remained a possibility of arrest based on the evidence. It was for the same reason that Rahul showed haste in filing a bail petition in the second case.
The High Court will consider the petition in the first case again on the 15th of this month. The arrest was stayed until then. The court's order stated that the petition contained serious matters and, therefore, detailed arguments should be heard.
