THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF convener EP Jayarajan has filed a defamation case against BJP state vice president Sobha Surendran. Jayarajan filed the case in Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate court. The action was taken against Sobha Surendran's allegation that Jayarajan held a discussion with her through broker Nandakumar to join the BJP. In his petition, Jayarajan alleged that the false allegations raised by Sobha Surendran tarnished his political image.

Although Jayarajan had sent a legal notice to Sobha Surendran asking her to withdraw the false allegations and publicly apologize through the media, or face civil and criminal legal proceedings and pay a compensation of two crore rupees, the BJP leader did not respond to the notice. Jayarajan had also lodged a complaint with the DGP demanding that a case be filed against KPCC president K Sudhakaran, Nandakumar and Sobha Surendran for conspiracy. However, the police replied that they could not register a case on the matter.
