Six fishermen sustain injuries after boat hits tetrapod

KOLLAM: Six fishermen sustained injuries after a small fishing boat was partially destroyed hitting a tetrapod. The accident occurred on the coastal area near Sakthikulangara port in Kollam. The injured were identified as Rajith (40), Rajeev (44), Shanmughan (46), Sujith (42) of Cheriazheekkal, Akhil (24) and his brother Abhinand (22) of Karur in Ambalapuzha.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at around 9.30 am. The boat Varunaputhran which was returning from fishing hit the tetrapod. In the impact, the fishermen on the boat fell into the sea. Other fishermen nearby rescued them and took them to the district hospital.
