Smuggled tobacco products to Kerala using vehicles delivering vegetables from Tamil Nadu; Excise Squad seizes tobacco products worth Rs 10 lakh

KOLLAM: The Excise Special Squad seized around 1000 kg of prohibited tobacco products from a house in Kollam. The tobacco products worth nearly Rs 10 lakh were seized from the house rented by Kollam Kilikollur native Shahjahan (42). It is learned that these tobacco products were smuggled to Kerala using vehicles bringing vegetables from Tamil Nadu. According to the Excise officials, Shahjahan stocked the tobacco products for wholesale sale in Punthalathazham, Ayathil, and Kilikollur areas.

The Excise Squad led by Special Squad Circle Inspector Tony Jose conducted the raid at Shahjahan's house based on the confidential information given by Intelligence Bureau Preventive Officer Bijumon. Iravipuram police soon reached the spot and took further action.
