THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that some people feel very distressed when the government's activities are accepted. He added that they are trying to distort whatever good things happen. He was inaugurating the grand finale, closing ceremony and prize distribution of the first edition of the Chief Minister's Mega Quiz organized by the state government.
“The quiz competition for students should not be criticised. However, some people who have the mentality that children should not understand any changes in Kerala have made this a controversy. Some are like Indra who is afraid that whoever does penance will usurp his throne. Kerala has changed from a place where education was denied to a place where all children get quality education. They should learn the changes that have taken place in the state. Those who express intolerance should not be encouraged in it. Movies are being used to defame Kerala. Students should be able to inform the society that that is not the reality. Our children have a clear knowledge and perspective about the history and present realities of Kerala,” the Chief Minister said.
Grace marks for reading
Minister V Sivankutty said that the matter of giving grace marks to encourage reading among school students is under consideration. “It is planned to implement it from the next academic year. Ten marks will be given as grace marks under project,” the minister said.
