Sonia Gandhi and Rahul arrive in Wayanad, will hold talks with senior leaders

KALPETTA: Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi arrived in Wayanad on Friday. The two leaders, who landed at the Karipur airport in the morning, travelled to Wayanad on a helicopter. They landed in Padinjarathara and were welcomed by Priyanka Gandhi, who has been staying in the district for the last one week. Neither of them has any public functions tonight. KC Venugopal MP also accompanied the leaders who are on a private visit.

It is indicated that the leaders will discuss the party's preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. They will hold meetings with the KPCC leadership in this regard. KPCC president Sunny Joseph MLA, DCC President ND Appachan and T Siddique MLA visited them. Sonia last arrived in Wayanad for the election campaign of Priyanka Gandhi. The national leaders' visit comes at a time when the Wayanad Congress is witnessing severe group disputes. It is hinted that Rahul Gandhi would hold separate talks with KC Venugopal and Sunny Joseph.
