THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan clarified the government's stance on increasing the honorarium of ASHA workers. During the LDF meeting, the Chief Minister stated that the state government will increase the honorarium of ASHA workers in line with the increase by the central government.

The RJD had demanded in the meeting that the government should take steps to end the ongoing ASHA workers' protest. The CPI also requested the government to intervene and resolve the issue. Following these demands, the Chief Minister responded with his statement.

Meanwhile, the UDF has extended full support to the ASHA workers who began an indefinite hunger strike today. Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan visited the protest venue along with UDF MLAs after boycotting the assembly session and declared solidarity with the striking ASHA workers. V.D. Satheesan demanded that the Chief Minister take the initiative to resolve the strike. He also accused the ministers of insulting the protest from the very beginning.
