
THRISSUR: Cartoonist T.K. Sujith of Kerala Kaumudi won the award for Best Cartoon at the State School Kalolsavam media awards held in Thiruvananthapuram last year. Education Minister V. Sivankutty said the award was given for Kerala Kaumudi’s cartoon based on the Kalolsavam. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a sculpture.
Sujith is the son of the late T.R. Kumaran and P.R. Thankamani of Thirumittacode, Thrissur. He has won the State Media Award 12 times. He has also received several other honours, including the Media Academy Fellowship, the Maya Kamath National Award, the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club Award eight times, and the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Award three times. His wife is Advocate M. Namitha. Their children are Amal, a sociology student at M.G. College, and Uma, a Class 10 student at Cotton Hill School.
Prizes for the media award winners will be distributed at the Kalolsavam being held in Thrissur. Award winners will receive Rs 20,000 each in the individual category and Rs 25,000 for institutions.
