State to experience thunderstorms today, special caution advised for five districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Warning that the state will get heavy rain in the coming hours. The rain that started in the morning in South Kerala is continuing. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that in the next 3 hours, there is a possibility of light/moderate rain with thunderstorm at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph.

No orange alert in any district today. Meanwhile, yellow alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. There is an orange rain warning in Idukki district tomorrow.

The Central Meteorological Department has announced orange alert in the districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours by the Meteorological Department.
