'Stop this political bankruptcy, family in distress over rumours'; CPM leader K J Shine responds to online slander campaign

KOCHI: CPM leader and teacher KJ Shine is moving ahead to file a complaint with the police and the Women's Commission against the vile rumours spread against her on social media. Shine said that the slander campaign on social media has mentally affected her partner, children, relatives, friends and colleagues. Shine alleged covert efforts from the opposition camp to taint her image and thus end her political career.

K J SHINE:

"I have been into public activism since my college days. The Kerala society started to hear my name more since the last parliamentary elections. However, the last few days saw a slander campaign on social media targeting me and my husband, who is also a political activist. Yesterday, a newspaper carried out the rumour as news. This has now seriously affected me, and my whole family is in distress.

The politics of cowardice is being used against me. I will fight this legally and politically. How perverted are those who spread disgusting propaganda against women who engage in public work? The slander spread through social media hurts not only an individual mentally and socially, but also their life partner, children, relatives, friends, and colleagues. Those brain behind these 'works' should stop their moral and political bankruptcy. I believe that the government will take the necessary steps to ensure justice.

Those who have come before us have faced so many difficulties and slanderous campaigns. In the same manner, we too will face this situation together and move forward. Women working in the public activism field should not bow down to such vile tactics.

I am filing a complaint with all the evidence collected from right-wing social media handles and media outlets that have tried to defame me."
