CHANGANASSERY: The Nair Service Society went backwards in their decision of strategic alliance with Shree Narayan Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP). It is reported that the majority of the NSS board of directors rejected the proposal for an alliance. The organisation said in a press release that it cannot deviate from the core values of NSS and called the unity would not give the desired results in Kerala's current political climate. The NSS also reiterated their equidistance stance with all political parties.
NSS chief Sukumaran Nair had earlier announced that the unity with the SNDP will be made without compromising the basic values of the NSS.
“The NSS is moving towards unity by maintaining the basic values of the organisation. We will not allow anything to lead to any antagonism towards a community or religion. Will pursue shared goals without compromising on our core ethos,” Sukaumaran Nair's earlier statement.
NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair said that a decision was made to back out of the alliance over suspicion of SNDP aiming for political gain through the alliance. Nair said he would not elaborate on the topic.
"Vellappally decided to send Thushar to Perunna for talks. Thushar is a politician and is with the NDA. We don’t need to bring any kind of political colour to our alliance. We don’t need any BJP politician doing mediation for an alliance between two Hindu groups,” said Sukumaran Nair
Meanwhile, SNDP General Secretary Vellappally Natesan said that he would respond on the matter after studying it.
