THRISSUR: Suresh Gopi has sparked a fresh controversy in Thrissur by casting his vote in Thiruvananthapuram during the local body elections. The Election Commission must explain how Suresh Gopi voted in Thiruvananthapuram, as he had cast his vote in Thrissur in the Lok Sabha election, demanded CPI leader V S Sunil Kumar. Congress mocked that Suresh Gopi has been exposed and if he has any morals, then he should resign. However, the BJP responded that it was two different voter lists for the Lok Sabha election and the local body election.
This new dispute surfaced even before the earlier controversy over the BJP allegedly adding votes from outside the Thrissur constituency had been resolved. Suresh Gopi and his family, who voted in the Lok Sabha election using their Nettissery address, cast their votes in Sasthamangalam for the local body election. V S Sunil Kumar demanded an explanation from the Election Commission and Suresh Gopi on how they could cast a vote at two places. He clarified that legal action should be taken against Suresh Gopi for sustaining a vote at two different places.
