THRISSUR: The list announced by the BJP for the corporation elections includes the chairman of the standing committee of the LDF governing body. Meanwhile, a former BJP councillor found a place in the LDF list. Janata Dal-S representative Sheeba Babu will contest as an independent candidate of the NDA in Krishnapuram division. Meanwhile, former BJP councillor Lalithambika will contest for the LDF in the Kuttankulangara division.
At the BJP's candidate announcement ceremony, BJP state general secretary M.T. Ramesh welcomed Sheeba Babu by adorning her with a shawl. Sheeba became a councillor after contesting on a Janata Dal (S) ticket for 15 years. The previous governing body had a rather hostile relationship with Sheeba Babu. Krishnapuram had to be given to the CPI in the division delimitation. Former BJP councillor Lalithambika, who arrived at the CPI office on Thursday, was received by the leaders. She was denied a seat in the last election to field BJP leader Adv. B. Gopalakrishnan, who ended up losing the seat. Since then, Lalithambika became estranged from BJP leadership.
