IDUKKI: Another life was lost in a wild elephant attack on Tuesday in Kerala. A tapping worker lost his life in a wild elephant attack in Peruvanthanam, Idukki. Purushothaman (64), a native of Thampalakkad, Kanjirappally, died in the incident.

The incident took place at around 10 am this morning in Mathamba.

Purushothaman was managing a rubber plantation on lease in Mathamba. In the morning, Purushothaman and his son were engaged in tapping work when the wild elephant charged at them. Seeing the wild elephant approaching, both of them tried to escape, but Purushothaman fell behind and was trampled.

The elephant returned to the forest after the locals created a commotion, scaring the giant. The elderly man was later taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. The body is now kept at the hospital in Mundakayam.
