THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Five snakes were found inside an air conditioner (AC) installed inside a house in Sreekaryam. The snakes were found inside the AC in the bedroom of the house of Technopark employee Madhav J Panicker, a native of Cheruvakkal. When Madhav returned home after work in the evening, he noticed something protruding at the bottom of the AC, and upon inspection the worst fears came true.

Madhav quickly informed the forest department about the incident. While inspecting with a torch, the owner found that the snakes were non-venomous, belonging to the Komberi or Villunni group. When the AC technician arrived and opened the box, a total of five Villunni snakes were found cloistered inside. It is suspected that the reptiles wriggled inside the house through the hole made in the wall near the AC's outer water pipe.

After hours of effort, four snakes were captured while one escaped through the hole. It seems like a leaning branch from a tree near the balcony might have made it easy for the reptiles to sneak inside. The captured snakes were released into the bushes in an uninhabited area.
