Teen dies in late-night accident near Pettah, twin brother seriously injured

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youngster died tragically in a car-bike collision in Pettah. Akhil (21), son of T.A. Rajan and M. Lincy, of R C Junction Kunnukuzhy, died in the accident. He was a first-year COPA student at Government ITI in Chackai.

The accident happened near Kerala Kaumudi Square at 1.15 am on late Sunday night. The bike the brothers were riding was going from Chackai to Pattoor when it collided with a Maruti Swift car coming from the Palayam route. The accident occurred when the bike was trying to overtake another vehicle. The car of a Peroorkada native who was going to the airport was involved in the accident. Akhil’s twin brother Alan is in the ICU of a private hospital with serious injuries.

Akhil’s father, T.A. Rajan, is a gardening employee in the legislative assembly. Akhil's heart valves were donated to the Medical College Hospital. The funeral will be held at 9.30 am today at Nalanchira Church. This is the second accident in Pettah in a week.
