KOZHIKODE: A major theft has been reported at the residence of renowned writer MT Vasudevan Nair. The incident took place at his home, "Sithara," located on Palace Road, Nadakkavu, Kozhikode. According to the complaint filed by MT's wife, Kalamandalam Saraswati, 26 sovereign worth of gold ornaments and diamonds were stolen from a cupboard in the house.
The theft is believed to have occurred between September 22 and 30. Initially, there was uncertainty regarding whether the missing valuables were stored in a bank locker. However, a thorough check confirmed that the items were neither in the house nor the locker.
Among the stolen items were three necklaces, a bangle, an earring, a diamond earring and locket and an emerald locket. The police suspect that the theft was committed using a key kept near the cupboard, leading to speculation that someone familiar with the family may be involved. Nadakkavu police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
