MALAPPURAM: Violence and harassment against women on buses are reported regularly, with studies showing high prevalence globally. While some are reacting against it, others are unable to even speak out due to fear. However, a different incident has recently flooded social media. The incident took place on the 'Al Amin' bus operating on the Payyannur - Ramanthali route. A woman named Shimjitha Musthafa recorded a video inside the bus alleging sexual assault. It went viral. The accused Deepak committed suicide after the incident.

Deepak was not seen intentionally misbehaving with the woman in the video. That is why there is a huge protest against the woman on social media. As part of the complaint filed by Deepak's relatives, the police have registered a case against the woman.

Now, following the incident, various types of trolls are emerging on social media. Pictures of men standing away scared on a bus, as well as pictures of a man standing on a bus with a camera covering his entire body, are going viral. One of them is a warning written on the back of the bus. These warnings include 'There are women on the bus, be careful; men should maintain their chastity at their own risk.' Although these pictures are definitely edited, all of these pictures are going viral on social media.
