THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K.S. Sabarinathan, Congress leader and husband of IAS officer Divya S. Iyer, has responded to her congratulatory post praising K.K. Ragesh, former private secretary to the Chief Minister, on his appointment as the CPM Kannur district secretary. His response came after senior Congress leader K. Muraleedharan and others criticised Divya’s post.
Sabarinathan stated, "Though Divya’s congratulations were well-intentioned, there is a lapse in judgment. You can appreciate the government and its policies, but congratulating someone who has received a political appointment is different. That is why Divya’s congratulatory message shifted from a governmental level to a political one. And that’s what led to the controversy," Sabarinathan said.
Divya’s original post on social media had read, 'This KKR shield could make even Karna envious! Having witnessed his official life closely over the past three years, I’ve observed numerous admirable traits. A textbook of loyalty! An inkpot of hard work!'
Following the post, senior Congress leader K. Muraleedharan criticised Divya, saying, “There are a few civil service officials doing padaseva to Pinarayi. The person who posted this is a prominent figure among them. We don’t value it so much. If you flatter excessively, it will backfire in the future.”
