Third accused in actor assault case attempts suicide

KOCHI: Manikandan, the accused in the actor assault case attempted suicide by slitting his wrist. The incident happened Saturday early morning. He committed the act in an inebriated condition. The Palarivattom police had taken him into custody for creating a commotion after being drunk.

After being released by the police, he bought a blade from a shop and slit his wrist. He was taken to the hospital by the police and the locals. He has been discharged from the hospital. The locals said that he constantly creates problems.

Manikandan is the third accused in the actor assault case. The verdict in the case will be delivered on December 8. The actress was attacked in a moving car on February 17 in 2017 in Kochi. There are nine accused including Manikandan in the case. Pulsar Suni is the first accused in the case and actor Dileep, the eighth accused. There were 12 accused initially. One of them turned approver and two were exempted.
