Thiruvalla spa gangrape case; Seventh person arrested, police intensify investigation

PATHANAMTHITTA: The seventh accused in the gangrape of an employee at a spa center in Thiruvalla, has been arrested. Shinto P Sunny (22) of Manjadi was arrested from Changanassery. The police came to know about the seventh person when questioning the first accused. The police case is that the spa employee was raped in protest against the non-payment of extortion money to the goons. The survivor had also alleged that the team got the support of her colleague to commit the rape. The police are also investigating this matter.

Two accused who were absconding had surrendered to the police on Wednesday night. Sajan Thomas (23) of Ayaparamba Kadath house and Kiran Thomas (22) of Manjadi surrendered at the Thiruvalla station. With this, all the accused in the case have been arrested. When the accused were questioned later, the police came to know that there was another accused. The police said the incident was not a quotation.

Subin Alexander Chacko (29) of Kuttapuzha, Berlin Das (38) of Muppiri in Kulakad, Varun Kumar (36) of Niranam Kotheril and Prasobh (Rokkan - 26) of Parambil House in Chumathra, Kozhikode were arrested earlier. The incident happened on February 1st at around 3:30 pm. The owner of the spa center had also come forward alleging that a business dispute was behind the gangrape. Thiruvalla police are also investigating this.
