'Those claiming Kerala got nothing should answer why approved projects were not implemented'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has responded to the criticisms over the absence of special announcements for Kerala in the Union Budget. He alleged that some people are simply spreading a false narrative that the state has received nothing. He also accused the Kerala government of failing to implement projects announced in previous Union Budgets

“During the 11 years of Modi government rule, India has risen from a weak economy to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. That progress is visible today. To the Left government, which is claiming that Kerala has got nothing, I have only one thing to say. In the last 10 or 11 Budgets, the Centre has announced several projects for Kerala. But many of the projects approved earlier have not been implemented by the state government. Instead of saying nothing was given, they should explain why the projects already sanctioned were not implemented,” Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

He pointed out that in 2017, the Centre had announced that AIIMS would be established in Kerala and Madurai, but the Kerala government has not yet provided the required land. He also said that the PM Ayushman Bharat scheme was offered by the Centre, but was not implemented in Kerala. Similarly, despite full allocation under the PM Awas Yojana, the state government failed to act, he alleged.

“If Kerala wants new development projects, an NDA government must come to power in the state. What Kerala needs is a double-engine government,” Rajeev Chandrasekhar added.
