Three deaths today due to heavy rains; three and a half-year-old girl swept away by stream, body found half a kilometre way

KOZHIKODE: Three more deaths in Kerala due to rains. A three-and-a-half-year-old girl died after falling into a stream in Annassery, Kozhikode. The girl fell into a stream near her house while playing. The deceased is the daughter of Nikhil, a native of Annassery. The child who fell into the stream was swept away by the current. The body was found half a kilometre away from the house.

A housewife died in Kasaragod after falling into a stream. Madhur Kelugudde native Bhavani (63) died. The body of a man was found in the Anungode River, which is part of the Bavali River in Kottiyoor. Two pilgrims were missing in Kottiyoor the other day. The body of Nishant, a native of Atholi, Kozhikode, was found today. He met with an accident when he went out to bathe on Saturday morning. Nishant had come to Kottiyoor for a pilgrimage with his family.

Heavy rains are expected to continue in Kerala today. Red alert has been issued in various districts due to the possibility of extremely heavy rains. Red alert is in Kannur and Kasaragod districts today. Extremely Heavy Rainfall is defined by the Meteorological Department as rainfall exceeding 204.4 mm in 24 hours. Orange alert is in place in Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts today.
