THRISSUR: A shocking discovery has unsettled the local community in Kodungallur after police found the remains of a three-month-old fetus stored in a refrigerator in a private apartment. The incident was reported at a flat in Chathedath Parambu, belonging to a young couple, following a specific tip-off that prompted a police investigation. During the search, authorities discovered the fetus kept inside a small box in the fridge.

The 28-year-old woman, who has a background in nursing, admitted to the police that she was pregnant and claimed to have given birth prematurely due to severe abdominal pain. She stated that she separated the fetus herself, using her medical knowledge, and chose to store the remains in the refrigerator because she found it difficult to dispose of them.

The police have officially registered a case of unnatural death. While the woman insists the incident was a medical crisis, the remains have been sent for a forensic autopsy to determine the exact stage of development and the cause of the pregnancy's end. Investigators are currently questioning the couple, who reportedly had a love marriage, and are looking into whether any third party assisted with the procedure.
