MALAPPURA: A tiger is behind the death of a tapper at Kalikavu in Malappuram, informed the forest department. They said that it was not a leopard attack and from the injuries seen, the initial conclusion is that the youth was attacked by a tiger. Gafoor (39) Kallamoola in Chokkad panchayat was bitten to death by a tiger Thursday morning.

Another tapper said that he saw Gafoor being carried away by the tiger. He said the animal jumped on the youth, held his neck and dragged him away. The locals then

informed the police. The body was found in the search conducted by the police. A large protest is going on at the place. The locals said that there is a presence of a tiger and a leopard here and that action should be taken.

The MLA and the DFO have reached the place. MLA A P Anil Kumar said the tiger will be found and tranquilized. Gafoor is father of three children. The locals are demanding a job for one of their family.
