MALAPPURAM: It is reported that a tiger has been spotted in a rubber plantation in Karuvarakundu. The tiger arrived at a rubber plantation in the Kerala Estate zone, a populated area. The tiger was first spotted by tapping workers from the plantation. After they reported the information, an inspection was conducted by the Forest Department officials and the RRT team. This also confirmed the presence of the tiger. The DFO announced that steps have been taken to chase the tiger into the forest. The tiger was spotted near the Pazhayakadakkal UP School, where about seven hundred students study.

False news had been circulating that a tiger had been spotted in Karuvarakundu Arthala. A man named Jerin had made and circulated a fake video claiming to have seen the tiger. An investigation by the Forest Department officials revealed that the video was fake. The Forest Department found that old footage had been edited and circulated. Jerin was arrested on a complaint filed by the Forest Department.
