THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AA Rahim MP said that neither the government nor the CPM is giving any privilege to PP Divya.
"In PP Divya's matter, the police have taken the same approach as they normally do when the court is considering the bail plea. The government is not giving any privileges to Divya. The prosecution presented the police's version in court today. It opposed granting bail to Divya at every stage. The government is standing with the victim," Rahim said.
"There's no need to misunderstand the government. Divya's party took a notable decision to expel her from the post of District Panchayat President. Who else but this government can take such a bold stand in court? It is an exemplary stance. The government has not shown any partiality. The time given by the police should not be seen as a special privilege," Rahim said.
Meanwhile, the Thalassery principal sessions court will pronounce the verdict on the anticipatory bail plea of PP Divya on October 29.
