Torturing serving jawan and brother in police custody, case to be handed over to CBI, union defence ministry seeks report

station

KOLLAM: The union defence ministry has sought a report from the state government in leaving the probe of the incident where a serving jawan and his brother were tortured in custody of Kilikollur station after trapping them in a false case, to the CBI. The state government is of the view that it is not right on the side of the police to investigate the complaint against them. Therefore, it is indicated that the state government will give a favorable report for an investigation by the CBI. After the incident stoked a controversy, the military intelligence had collected information from here.

A case fabricated by the Kilikollur police was that the jawan and his brother, who came to bail out the accused in the ADMA case, pushed the ASI of the station from his chair and hit him on his head with a stool. Actually, the policemen who were in the station brutally beat the two. ASI Prakash Chandran sustained injuries when the jawan hit him while defending himself.

Four policemen, including the circle and sub inspectors of Kilikollur station were suspended following the incident. The incident happened on November 25 in 2022.
