Traffic violation: Second notice despite paying penalty; online fraud?

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even after paying the fine online within the stipulated time for traffic violations, another fine notice has been issued for the same offence. The second notice is through e-court. Vehicle owners are worried as further services will be disrupted if the fine is not paid. The Parivahan site was hacked earlier. It is said that the new error is due to a mistake that occurred at that time. However, the Motor Vehicles Department does not confirm this.

The fine imposed is usually transferred to the e-court (virtual court) if it is not paid online through the 'e-challan' software within the specified day. The reason for the notice coming again even after the fine is paid is assessed to be the site's fault.

Since services like vehicle fitness and permit renewal will be disrupted if the fine is not paid, the owners are forced to pay the fine again. This is a double loss for the vehicle owners. The Motor Vehicles Department has not yet introduced an alternative arrangement.

Online fraud?

Vehicle owners also have doubts about whether receiving a second fine notice through the virtual court is online fraud. This is because such cyber frauds are widespread.
