Tribal man dragged along road; lookout notice for two accused; two arrested

KALPATTA: Police have issued a lookout notice for two accused in the case of dragging Mathan, a tribal, along the road in Koodalkadavu using a car. Two of the four accused were arrested yesterday. Muhammad Arshid and Abhiram, natives of Pachilakkad near Kaniyambetta, Wayanad, were arrested. The police said that they were caught in Kalpetta when they were coming from Karnataka by bus.

TP Nabeel Qamar (25)of Thazhe Punathil and K Vishnu of Kunnummal house in Panamaram are absconding. Those who have information about them should contact Mananthavadi Police Station Phone-04935 240232, Mananthavadi SHO-9497987199, Mananthavadi Sub-Inspector-949780816.

The police are conducting strict checks at the state borders. District Police Chief Taposh Basumatary reached Mananthavadi and assessed the progress of the case. Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister OR Kelu visited Mathan, who is staying at Wayanad Medical College. Mathan stated that those who attacked him had used drugs.
