THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of isolated heavy rains in the state today. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Kasaragod and Kannur. Rain is expected to continue in isolated places in the state until Tuesday. Along with the rain, winds of up to 40 km per hour are also possible. The red alert announced earlier in various dams in the state is continuing as the water level is rising dangerously.
Meantime, fishing has been completely banned till October 27 due to the possibility of strong winds and bad weather along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Fishing has been banned as winds of up to 40 to 60 km per hour are possible. Those living in areas prone to landslides, mudslides and mountain floods should move to safer places as per the instructions of the authorities.
