THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The female Hanuman monkey, which had escaped from the zoo a few days ago, was found nearby. The monkey is located right next to the zoo premises near the LMS Church and the Mascot Hotel. Zoo officials are keeping a close eye on the monkey. The health status of the monkey is currently fine and there is no need to be concerned.

The zoo staff had conducted an extensive search to find the three-year-old female monkey that escaped last Tuesday evening. The monkey, which first entered the Nanthancodu area, later returned to the zoo and was stationed in the wild jack tree near the Indian bison den. Later the locals reported seeing the monkey in Kuravankonam and Ambalamukku areas. A search was made but the monkey could not be found. It has also been hinted that this is a common monkey. A search was carried out on the zoo premises and in the areas where the monkey was later reported to have been spotted.

The monkey that was brought to the zoo as part of the transfer of animals is the one that escaped. Along with the monkey, two emus and two lions were also delivered to the zoo. In the footage released after the incident, the monkey can be seen running out of the cage and climbing the trees. The monkey sitting on top of the tree was shown its favorite food to make her come down, but it did not bother to come down. The minister reiterates that there was no lack of caution when the monkey was released.
