KOZHIKODE: Preliminary police investigation found that the accused students carried a definite plan to murder the 10th class student in Thamarassery. Police said that after the conflict at the Farwell party at the tuition center, the accused students formed groups on social media and planned revenge.
The accused students, in their discussion on social media, debated on the law that would give them remission in jail term considering their age. The students also considered their chances of escaping by using SSLC exams as a shield.
Shahbaz, who was at his rented house, was summoned to the spot at the town bus stop and was beaten up terribly in full public glare. A police officer's son is among the five students detained. Another detained student’s parent flaunts a criminal background. According to the police, Shahbaz was attacked with a nunchuck used in karate.
The police will investigate the possibility of senior students offering help to attack Shahbaz. The police said that more students were involved in the conflict and that they would check the CCTV footage to find them.
Police have charged murder charges against five 10th class students. Their bail application was rejected. All five will be sent to juvenile home. However, the juvenile justice board permitted all of them to appear for the upcoming SSLC examinations.
