KANNUR: The Kannur District Secretariat decided to expel CPM District Committee Member V. Kunhikrishnan from the party for raising allegations of fund misappropriation in Payyanur. The Secretariat assessed that Kunhikrishnan has committed a serious breach of discipline. The final decision on the expulsion will be taken after this decision is reported in the District Committee meeting to be held tomorrow.

CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan and state secretariat member M.V. Jayarajan had hinted that the party would take action against Kunhikrishnan. The decision to expel Kunhikrishnan was taken at a district secretariat meeting attended by both of them. M V Govindan denied embezzlement of the funds collected for martyr Dhanraj's family of Kannur.

Meanwhile, a case was registered against 25 CPM activists, including the area secretary, for beating up Congress and BJP workers who were protesting yesterday.
