ALAPPUZHA: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan said the Muslim League is propagating that he is a communalist. We are following the path of Sree Narayana Guru. Casteism has not yet entered my mind, Vellappally said in the press meet convened.
'When there is caste discrimination, will point that. When the caste system exists here, if we say that we should get what we deserve, it is not caste. We are not against any religion. We do not oppose any belief. We do not try to impose our belief on anyone. SNDP is a movement that gives love and takes love. The League members are haunting me. The ones who audit SNDP's accounts and conduct our cases are Muslims. We are the ones who gave all the votes to the Muslim member of the syndicate and made him win.
There is a reason for making me an enemy. We have protested in many places to topple the Left by saying that we are the backward community front and the reserved community front. I am the one who paid for all that and stood in front of it mostly. But none of the top members of the League will come to protest. Only the third-rate ones will be given to us.
After they came to power, I asked them that we have not received any justice. They said that we will be considered when the new government comes? When the government issued an order to resolve the shortcomings of Muslims and conducted special recruitment after coming to power, when I said that nothing was done for the backward communities including the Ezhava community, there was no answer. They signed everything while in power. These are the ones who destroyed democracy when Oommen Chandy was the chief minister. The League slaughtered democracy. The rich of the Muslim community get all the benefits. The Muslim League is arrogant and proud. When you say League, it means the Malappuram party. All they do is help the rich of Malappuram.
After they lost power, the top leaders of the League approached me and said that a mistake has happened. Will correct mistakes, they said everything what I say will be made possible and would help in coming back to power. I replied that it is not possible and that they cannot be trusted. Despite many temptations from their side, I stood firm. They cheated me.
It is true that the BJP increased its vote share in Thiruvananthapuram. Vellappally blamed Arya Rajendran for the poll debacle. Her behaviour towards the public was bad. She was arrogant while in power. Her pride was the topic of discussion. This is what caused the setback in the corporation elections. Do not be stubborn in public work. Despite all the good achievements that the Left has made, it has not been able to convey it to the lower levels. People need to be treated with respect and love,' clarified Vellappally Natesan.
