VS’ former PA Suresh to attend Puthu Yuga Yatra led by V D Satheesan

PALAKKAD: A Suresh, former personal assistant of former chief minister V S Achuthanandan, is likely to attend Puthu Yuga Yatra led by opposition leader V D Satheesan. The program is held at the Palakkad Stadium Bus Stand Ground at 5 pm today.

The UDF is planning to field Suresh in the Malampuzha constituency, which V S contested and won, and is a stronghold of the LDF. Malampuzha MLA is A Prabhakaran, VS' right-hand man. The district and state leaderships are keen to change the bad reputation of the UDF coming third behind the BJP last time. Meantime, a section of local leaders feel that a Congress candidate should contest in Malampuzha.

The CPM's stand is that Suresh's candidature is not seen as a threat. While Prabhakaran is leading the CPM from the front, Suresh is not expected to get a single vote in the name of VS. Prabhakaran himself is likely to contest again. The name of CPM district committee member Subhash Chandra Bose is also on the list. The CPM calculates that the Congressmen are fielding an independent candidate in the constituency without contesting to divert Congress votes to the BJP. If Suresh is the UDF candidate, the CPM has decided to raise the campaign of a Congress-BJP alliance.
