VS to bid adieu to capital city, body to be taken to hometown

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan arrived at Velikkakam house at Law College Junction in Thiruvananthapuram to pay his last respects to former chief minister VS Achuthanandan. Minister V Sivankutty, CPM state secretary M V Govindan and many other leaders had also reached the house. The chief minister then from here went to the Durbar Hall.


After the public homage at the house, VS’ body was taken to the Durbar Hall in the Secretariat. There will be a public viewing at the Durbar Hall till 2 pm and then the body will be taken to his hometown Alappuzha as a cortege. Arrangements have been made in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha for the people to pay homage.


The cortege will pass through 27 centers in Thiruvananthapuram. The centers are Palayam, PMG, Plamood, Pattom, Kesavadasapuram, Ulloor, Pongumood, Sreekaryam, Kaniyapuram, Pallipuram, Mangalapuram, Attingal Bus Stand, Kacherinada, Alamkode, Kaduvayil, Kallambalam, Navaikulam, 28th Mile, Kadampattukonam. Facilities have been made available for public viewing at various centers in Kollam as well. There will be a public viewing at Velikkakam House in Alappuzha in the evening.
