
THRISSUR: The family of Ramnarayanan Baghel (31), a native of Chhattisgarh, who was lynched to death in Attapallam, Walayar, decided not to accept the dead body until they get justice. The family members are protesting at Thrissur Medical College, demanding compensation of Rs 25 lakh and a case against the culprits under the SC-ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
The family members explained to the media that they would remain in Kerala until all the culprits are brought to justice. Amidst the rising concerns, the Palakkad RDO decided to travel to Thrissur as a government representative to hold talks with the protesting family. He will visit the medical college and speak with the family.
Meanwhile, relatives said that Ramnarayan's two young children have become orphans. Relative Shashikant also explained that they have not received any words of comfort or help from the government. The relatives were taken to Thrissur Medical College by Justice for Ram Narayan Baghel Action Committee workers, representatives of the Manaveeyam organisation and other social organisations. Ramnarayan and his family lived in a small hut in Karhi village in Chhattisgarh.
Ramnarayan was the sole breadwinner of a family consisting of two sons, Anuj and Akash, aged 10 and 8, and an ailing mother and wife. Ramnarayanan reached Palakkad to meet his relative Shashikant, who has been working as a construction worker here. Ram was in Kerala in search of work and better prospects.
