IDUKKI: The water level in the Idukki Dam is rising. The water level in the dam is 2380.18 feet. Shutters number two, three and four are raised presently and one lakh litres of water is released per second.

When the water level reached 2384.22 feet at 10 am on Sunday, the third shutter was first raised by 40 cm. At 10.30 it was 75 cm. However, the water level did not reduce except above the rule level. Shutter number two and shutter number four at five o'clock were raised by 40 cm each at 4.45 pm.

Taking into account the continuous rain in the catchment area and the possibility of more water coming from Mullaperiyar, more shutters of the dam may be raised today. It has been decided to release up to two lakh litres of water per second. Meantime, the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam rose to 138.75 feet.
