Woman dies after being bitten by viper while doing MGNREGA work

KOZHIKODE: A woman died after being bitten by a snake while doing MGNREGA work. Kalyani (65), from Kavilumpara panchayat, died while undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. She was bitten by a viper on Tuesday afternoon, and she passed away on Wednesday night.

The incident took place while she was digging soil in a farm in Choorani. Other workers who were with her first took her to a traditional poison healer. From there, she was shifted to the taluk hospital and later to the ICU of Kozhikode Medical College, but her life could not be saved.

She was taken to the medical college after receiving first aid at the taluk hospital. She is survived by her husband Chathu, children Biju, Binu and Bijila.
