Woman dies during surgery in Medical College in Neyyattinkara: Relatives allege medicine mix-up, file complaint

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a shocking incident, a patient died during surgery in Karakonam Medical College in Neyyattinkara. Kumari, a native of Aralumoodu in Neyyattinkara, died in the incident. The surgery was performed on Saturday to remove kidney stones.

However, the hospital authorities say that the cause of death was a heart attack during the surgery. Kumari was immediately shifted to ventilator support, but her life could not be saved. However, her daughter Kala and other relatives alleged that the doctors administered the wrong medicines, which resulted in the death. The relatives have decided to move forward with a complaint against the hospital. The Vellarada police have registered a case of unnatural death.
