Woman dies in Kasargod after accidentally consuming rat poison

KASARGOD: A middle-aged woman died after accidentally consuming rat poison. The dead is B P Shobana (56) of Mottayamkochi in Kolichal. While poisoning a rat, it accidentally spilled into another glass. She later drank water from this glass, causing the poison to enter her body. She developed uneasiness soon after this and was first admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru and then taken to Kannur.

She was shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital after her condition worsened. Her house was plagued by rats. Her family said the poison was kept to avoid this. The Rajapuram police have registered a case of unnatural death in the incident. She leaves behind her husband Sajeevan and children Saneesh, Sachitra and in-laws Shanthi, Saneesh.
